I have that problem when I build often... I see a block, it would probably be pretty, then become aware that it is a melon, or sand or whatever weird material and don't use it. Then I kinda think I should do weird materials more often when I watch your video's or some other builders because it clearly works well.

You can also use world painter for the island building, if your gonna make a map out of it. Otherwise you can't really do this on a server.

I think he built it in Java edition with various tools from mods then converted it into a bedrock world.
